I took the '84 up the canyon, had lunch at Lake Isabella, then over to Havilah, and through Caliente back towards BAKErsfield today. And BAKE we did! I had the A/C on, but it wasn't doing the job. When I got home I stuck a thermometer in the A/C vent and it only got down to 72 degrees. My truck gets around 45 in the A/C vent on high.
So, how low should I expect the A/C temps in the dash vents on a 1984 Carrera? . ![]() I'm aware that these don't have the best reputation for cooling, but 70 just doesn't cut it. It must have been working some, 'cause it was 105 outside. I expect it needs some freon, or sumthin' Thanks!

My vent temp is 36 when the ambient temp is 85. Don't know what the vent temp will be if the ambient is 105, but if it ever got that hot here in Chi town, you can bet your P car that I won't be out there driving

That's what I figured. It should be down around 40. Sumthin' ain't right in the A/C dept.
BTW, we like to say it's a "dry heat" here in BAKErsfield. Our RH is around 20%, so really it doesn't feel warm until the 90's. But anytime it hits 100 it feels hot, dry or not. But the nights are awesome. It drops 30 degrees and with a breeze, it's just plain nice outside. 'Till that #$%@ sun comes up again! BTW#2 I was in Vegas a few weeks ago, and it hit 122 in Baker (just outside Barstow, CA). Now that's HOT, dry or not. It was killing cars left and right. About every 2 miles there was a car broke down from overheating.
