We must defend Pelican on Rennlist

Don't know if this link will work- http://forums.rennlist.com/

If not go to the 993 tech. forum and look for "Pelican Parts -Bad business Practices."

I already spoke up in PP's defense, and I urge others who feel strongly about this to do the same.

Leland

I read the entire thread. I like Wayne and I like PP, but I have also been the victim of orders not shipping when expected. I would like to hear the other side of the story before I blindly jump to the defense of a salesperson that I have never dealt with.

Wayne needs to address this directly with the customer. Not acceptable customer service in my book and I would be as upset as this guy is. Customer service makes or breaks a business no matter how good their product is. I am sure PP has a response and will make it right.

Looks like Eli has already addressed the matter and it sounds like the order screw up was made by the purchaser.

Well based on Eli's response it looks like the complainant was less than truthful about the "ship next business day" notification he received (in reality the notification was it would ship within 5 business days), and the claim that it took a full week to ship out (in reality 3 business days), and selected the size that Pelican actually shipped out

It looks to me like they don't even drive thier cars. I'm sure the powers to be at PP will get this taken care of.

I'm pretty much done with this one but getting kind of tired of hearing these "Oh I got screwed" internet stories that turn out to be half truths at best.

Eli has defended Pelican adequately. There were also a number of people who said nice things about PP. I would say that there is no need to defend PP. No need for a inter-board flame war.

While it's true that some of the 993 owners have garage queens it's also true that most 993 owners drive their cars. I think some of the challenges that 993 owners face are:

1. Low mileage cars (especially "S" cars) are holding their values so well that there is a reluctance to cross the mileage threshold (20-30K miles) where their value drops

2. Many 993 owners (counting myself ...I sold my '96 C4S but I'll be buying another 993 in the next week or so) have multiple cars so the 993 doesn't get driven as much. In my house with my wife and 2 younger kids we have C280, I-30, Dodge Ram Hemi Quad cab, and a Land Rover. When I get the 993 it will be car number 5...it just won't see as much use with only two drivers in the house

3. Some 993 owner's see the cars as the last of their kind...they need to be taken care of and preserved.

While I certainly agree that these cars were meant to be driven each owner gets satisfaction from using their car in different ways...some like driving hard at the track, others use them as a daily driver, and others like pampering the car like an expensive lover!

Cheers!

The fellow that posted the first message - perhaps his wife was super-unhappy that he would get her a Porsche jacket for her birthday? I dunno - my wife wouldn't jump up and down. People are unique animals - who knows what's going on behind the scenes. This fellow had a obviously irrational reaction, and needed to blow off some steam.

Eli and I set him straight. As someone once said, there's no such thing as bad publicity?

The guy is clearly embarrassed now...and it appears he is insistent upon digging his self-dug hole deeper.

Kindof like paying into the pot in Texas Hold-Em, hoping for that last card to come on the river. Gotta go down in flames!

Speaking of poker, I'm planning on having a Pelican Poker night in January sometime! I have a big conference room table that's perfect!

Hmm, no need to respond anymore with my praise for Pelican. That guy just doesn't know how to read an online order screen and I guess he feels that's your fault Wayne .

Regardless, your closing post is solid. And how funny, he now wants the thread shut down. Gee, I wonder why?

Wayne & Eli did a great job showing how wrong this customer was. He is acting like a spoiled brat IMHO.
