I actually live like five minutes from where the 917's were based. It was in Harmarville, PA from what I've been told. My mechanic was an engineering student at Pitt in the 1970's and he once told me a story about walking into the Pitt quad and gawking because Gulf Research had the 917's on display for no apparent reason. They were just sitting there...

Interesting it would have been for sure. In "The Unfair Advantage", Donohue claims that he and Penske were basically the reason for the succuess of the 917/10 and /30. Porsche have always disputed that. I have a hunch the 917/10-30 would have been just as successful in the hands of Wyer and Oliver ...... -- Curt
