Ok maybe a dumb question on friday

Ok I know its late and friday but can any body give some ideas. I just had my alternator rebuilt and was re installing it in my conversion car . When I test power the by hooking up the power the accessory is now power all the time and the oil pressure and generator light glow with key off? When you turn the key on no gauges operate and everything else work fine such as blower fan light and starter etc. Any ideas? I am postive that I hooked the alternator back up the way it was but was wondering if a poor ground could cause this? The 2 poles in the middle of the alternator one should be grounded through the harness (the non insulted one) and the other nothing? Or should that one go to the ground strap leading to the engine? I should have taken better notes. The engine is a 74 2.7 and the alternator is a marchel.

Thanks
Ben
