York A/C compressor question

Hello
I have a 1979 911 SC with the original York A/C compressor. I'm starting to get a slight squeaking noise from the compressor clutch. Can the clutch be lubricated or does it have sealed bearings? anyone know? - Larry

The bearing is sealed but it can be easily removed. The clutch is removed with a clutch tool from autozone. Then drive out the clutch plate with a mallet from behind. The squealing could also be from debris caught in the air gap. Good luck.

Take a look at Rondinone's second suggestion first. Remove the outer nut and pull of the outer plate. I bet you have a bunch of dirt and crap in there which may be scraping with the clutch engages and disengages. At least this was the problem I had with my car.

The best thing you can do to fix your York is to replace it with a Sanden. :)
