Replacing the front suspension pan

I discovered rust in the battery area of the trunk. The front half of the suspension pan needs to be replaced. Can I do this with out replaceing the complete pan?
The rest of it looks fine( tank support area.) Is there any tips or articles on how to do this?

Thanks
Rick

Hello Rick,I did the front pan replacement on a 1974-911S that I used to own,its not too bad of a job. When you have the new pan what I did was jack the front of the car up,I held the new pan in place and made a chalk outline of the outside,I then took my air driven cut off tool and started cutting on the chalk line,it goes pretty fast. When you have the old piece cut out,you have to "fit" the new piece in,it takes a little grinding and filing, once that is done I brazed the new piece in and voila its done.I then cleaned up the welds and then primed and painted, that was 4 years ago and my buddy that I sold the car to is still driving it with no problems.Good luck.

When I had the front pan replace in my 74 911 the body shop drill out the spot welds and respot welded the half front pan back on. Labor was $500 for everything.
