We use the same westCo battery in our '72. This car is not started for weeks at a time and the Miata battery cranks it right away. WestCo battery $85 delivered - fits the stock location - what was the advantage of the more costly, heavier, Optima installation project?? Regards Hayden |
The Odyssey dry cell batteries are available in a range of sizes starting at 15.7 lbs and going all the way up to 60.9 lbs. The small 15.7 lbs model has been the most popular due to its weight savings and it has plenty of power to start a 911. Accesories are not a problem because they run off the alternator (unless you like to run the stereo all day with the car off).
I recommend the larger batteries for cars in cold climates due to the cranking cold cranking requirements. |
I thought the Optima doesn't fit without some cable mods. I vote for the Interstate.
I've had mine over 3 years and I live in Phoenix. Three years for a battery in Phoenix is a looong time. http://66.227.101.70/otn/happy/auto.gif |
Chuck--which model would you recommend for a daily driver and occasional track car thats driven in temps between 40 and 100 degrees. I have a 3.6L, power windows, stereo and no a/c (possibly in future) but dont run them without car running. I would like to save some weight over current 70lb battery. Does this give you the info you need to make recommendation?

Jon,
Given your intended use, the PC925 would probably be a good choice for your application. Weighs about 26lbs. |
I've used Odyssey batteries in Jet Skis...and had bad luck with them. Same goes for a friend of mine. Three skis, and four Odyssey batteries later, I wouldn't buy another (especially at those prices - $129 a pop w/ a 2 year warranty).

I have the optima in my 72. I've had it for about 4 years. Car is driven once a week. Never has it let me down. It was a hassle to install though. I also have the pc925 in my saab which runs my car, one-400 watt amp, one-200 watt sub, an intercooler fan, blah, blah blah and this little battery rocks! I would have put one in the porsche if I knew about it 4 years ago.
