Muffler is on, tips are straight... now about this heat pipe thingy?
I had to flatten the heat pipe in half to get the heat pipe back on. Is this allowing enough air across the heat exchangers? There are no restrictions or kinks. All the bends are still smooth. I used a press and a radiused plate to keep the radius on the back side of the pipe. So the passage in the yellow box looks like a "D".
What do you think? Am I okay? (seriously )

Shawn,
You should be ok. As long as you didn't kink the pipe then the shape ( D or oval ) should not affect the airflow. Look at Street rods and Nastycar racing, they use oval exhaust pipes for clearance so I would say you are good to go.

The only thing I was worried about was that I reduced the volume of the pipe by half. I guess airflow should still be okay...

I think that the only way to reduce the volume is to reduce the pipe i.e. a smaller diameter. As long as you have the same size pipe but just changed the shape, then the volume should stay the same.

But if I flattened the pipe on one side wouldn't it be half the volume of the original shape? It is completley flat on one half. Looks exactly like a "D".

I think you should be ok, if you look at some of the high tech tubing parts and brake parts like this brake duct from SCarGo, they radicly change the shape but maintain the same amount of volume. I think that as long as you didn't cut out and remove any tubing material then you should be fine.
Shoot, its just the heat tube anyways. If there is a restriction in airflow its not going to hurt anything.

Shawn, if the cross sectional area has not been reduced by much, you should be OK. You can guess at that area, but judging from your description of the pipe shape, post-Hammer time, you should be OK.
And as slider said, why worry so much about the heat! |

Souk,
I am mostly worried that enough air is flowing over the heat exchanger on the passenger side as to not cook my heads. It was stated in an earlier thread that I needed to have the heat pipe because it flowed air thru the heat exchangers displacing heat. I just want to be sure there is enough getting thru there to remove the built up heat.
