Would shortening the pipes on a exhaust change its sound???
I have a Dansk dual in/ dual out attached to SSI's and a Yellowbird replica rear bumper from Better Bodies.
I like the current sound of the setup, but I don't like how far the tailpipes extend out from the bumper. I'm considering shortening the pipes but I don't to end up with a foul sounding exhaust system. Has anybody done something like this? Do I have anything to worry about here?

Chris,
I think you'll find that, like a pipe organ, if you shorten the pipes you will get a higher-pitched sound.

You may alter or induce resonance at certain rpm ranges.

Tyson Schmidt suggested I shorten the pipes on my Triad to get rid of some of the low-RPM drone. Maybe he'll chime in here to confirm this. He told me he did so on one of Jack Olsen's mufflers, and it worked very well. Also, there was no perfomance loss when doing this.
