paintless dent removal

Picture frame fell off shelf onto front fender:

Took vehicle to ding depot here in Tysons Corner, VA. Took about one hour:

Very reasonable. No drilling, no bondo, no painting.
Sure glad it wasn't an exploding can of oven remover!:

You should see the three dents sitting in my fender when some IDIOT used a crowbar to try to get into the trunk. I have always wondered if paintless removal was possible - this looks like the real deal.

Christ that must have been a very heavy picture frame. Glad the dent was able to be popped out for you. Good looking paint finish too!

Gary

Turns out the guy has been doing it so long he trains others, guess I lucked out I didn't get the recent trainee. He had a pretty cool Datsun roadster project in his shop.

I have been amazed at what a good dent removal guy can do.

Congradulations on the good work.

If you don't mind my asking, what did they charge you to get that out?

Porsche Crest Nice-

I was wondering how big of a dent that works on, very nice.

How much was it, if you wouldn't mind saying?

Also, dumb question, are those H4's or what type of lights? That is what I am after...

He charged me $200. His price ranged from $75 for a door ding on up. If I had gone to a body shop they would have wanted way more and the paint would no longer be original.

Not to mention, it wouldn't be done in an hour!

Very nice work!

While we're on the topic of PDR, does anyone know of an outstanding paintless guy in the Denver area?

I've got a couple of small dings in my 993 and my wife's Land Cruiser is starting to look like a golf ball.

Thanks for any imput!

Jess

I have similar dent. Body shop toll me can not be repaired because once you push it out, the paint will come of. Body job is needed.

Wow, that is amazing!! You're lucky that the frame didn't crack the paint upon impact. There is a guy here that does miracle work similar to what you experienced. He'll do an entire car club's body panels for around $25.00 a panel in a single session. A buddy of mine just had him straighten out the cars of the local Ferrari club here.

I spent a fair amount of time talking to a dent removal guy at a local used car shop. What he told me was that IF the paint is intact and no acute angles they can remove pretty large dents, especially if the paint is not thinned out. I was also told that they would rather do the car on a really warm day as it apparently makes the paint more "supple"??? Not sure of the veracity of all this but it did kind of make sense.

While it is hit and miss, dents with acute angles can also be removed.

One of my clients had a 944 with a door ding that was so bad that the mid door crease had been pushed in to the point where the dent formed a very sharp inward crease that looked certain to destroy the paint in that area.

After he got the car back you couldn't tell anything had ever happened to the door.

I have heard of many body shops claiming that dents and impacts needed body work despite them being easily fixed by dent removal experts since it cuts into the big $$$ they can make from doing body work instead.

I'm sorry I didn't catch the guy's name but he works by himself. Ding Depot Phone number 703 751-6529. I went to him because unlike the other guys he has a shop (behind the AAMCO) off Tyco Road.
