Project Elephant - Some soft stuff
30 years on and the interior was a bit tired. Headliner had a small rip and some discoloration, dash had the usual crack by the speaker grill.
I hear what your thinking - "Don't be a wanker. Rip it out! It's just dead weight". Alas, the class I'll be competing in requires a full interior. And as long as they're installed they might as well look good. Before the glass goes in it was time to get it done, a new headliner is in and the dash is recovered. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1059111633.jpg Click for full update |

The new dash cover is stitched right? Who did it? Is it straight over top of the old (presumably glued up) vinyl? The cost of replacements is getting out of hand! Either way - looks great! |
Nice Chuck! Your race car is going to look better than my street car inside and out! Dam!
|
Chuck, remind me, what started this whole project? Wasn’t it just freshing up of an itty-bitty little rust spot over the weekend? ;)
It’s looking great! I’ll have a complete report for you on my oil cooling project in a few days. First test drive was last night, big thumbs-up! I just have a little bumper mod to complete before I reinstall it and it’s done. |
dash looks great, just wondered, is your car hanging from the rafters?

The dash is covered with two pieces that have a stitched seam as visible in the picture. It was recovered by Elephant Racing. Actually my girlfriend did the seamstress work. I have to say it came out extremely well, as good as the pro jobs I've seen. The stitched seam doesn't look factory original but the look is very sharp. By comparison the factory dash looks like a piece of plastic. Doc Ryan One thing leads to another. It actually started out as a quick front suspension re-fresh.... yeah, right. I'm anxious to see how your cooler installation worked out. Dickster Its been a roller for a few months now. But I will tell you, all stripped out, the car feels really light. It could be hanging easily. |
Chuck,
the dash looks awesome! what is the actual fabric that you used and how hard was the job? is this a service you guys provide as well? |
Chuck,
is is leather or some sort of vinyl. Did you glue it down? More details please. It looks really sharp. Ingo |
