Radio only working with key in "radio" position, not "on"

I seem to be filled with questions today...

So last weekend I tackled the mess of incorrect wiring in my car in an effort to figure out why the blower and radio power circuit worked no matter what position the key was in. I ended up swapping two wires on the key switch that based on my multimeter testing seemed to be backwards. End result was the "radio" position on the switch (assuming the correct order is Off->Radio->On->Start) had power going to the radio and the front fresh air blower.

Imagine my suprise this morning when I went to drive the car and discovered the radio ONLY works when its in that first position, not "on".

So basically the wiring is now a huge mess. Anyone got any tips how this is supposed to be wired up? None of the "stock" radio wiring seems to be in the car, nor is the original blower wiring. A good amount of the other stuff has been changed over the last 37 years, but right now I'm concerned with that one circuit. Does anyone have a diagram of the back of the switch itself that indicates which connector is what?

One wire from the radio show goes to a constant + source and one wire should go to a source that is control by the ignition and you got your ground and speaker wires.

Yellow should go to the constant + source
Red to the ignition + source
Black to ground
Blue to electric antenna or psoitive trigger for power amp
and the rest should go to the various speakers.

Hope this help

Yeah, I've got that, the problem is the "ignition + source"... the car has a key position other than "on" that is supposed to be for the radio -- I need to figure out how the ignition switch is supposed to be wired up to the radio circuit such that the radio works when they key is "on" and "radio". I mean, worst case I can put it hooked only to the "on" spot, but then I can't listen to the radio when I'm working on the car, because the fuel pump would be running, too so I don't tend to leave the car "on" and not started for very long.

The first position is accessories on, second is run and third is start.

Just get a test light and turn the key to the accessory position, the first click, and see which terminal is hot.

Yeah thats what I did, and that terminal is aparently not hot when the car is on.

Annoying...
