Water leaking down into the doors?

I don't much drive in the rain, washing the car (the windows closed, of course) and spraying rinsing water by hose and then wiping the car dry, I put her in the garage, leave all doors, hood and engine lid open, so as to have any humidity evaporate as fast as possible. A day or so later, when I lover the side-windows and then re-close the windows, they will have water streaks on them. This indicates that water seems to get into the doors. Is this normal? Or not? Does it mean water is inside the doors? If so, there must be quite some rust there on my 88! What is the technique used in cars to keep water out of doors? Should there be holes on the bottom end of doors so as to prevent accumulation of water? Thanks any advice as to what I should consider!

Water does go in the doors. The seal have no chance of keeping it out. There are drain holes in the bottom of the door. Therte should also be a polythene sheet stuck under the door card to stop water damage.

You could clean inside the door cavity as good as possible and waxoil (cavity wax) as much as possible.

Hey Ranger, thanks. Your reply does reassure me to a large extent. I thought perhaps the existing car seals were engineered to keep all water out, which they apparently aren't then...

Cool

the lower door drains must not clog up.. if you ever inspect the under door/drain area from the outside and see rust eating the steel it's time to take action...........Ron
