Grounding wires on engine lid
I am ready to replace my engine lid with a fiberglass tail and have a question about the grounding wires that attach to each side of the stock lid. Do I simply reattach them to the fiberglass lid with the existing hardware? Will the bolt and washer ground the wire correctly despite the fact that the lid is fiberglass?
Thanks. |

You can anchor the ground wires but they will not be grounding anything through the fiberglass lid unless it had a grounding plane or grid molded into it which I doubt. If you have any electrical items on the lid such as lights, fans, etc. that require a chassis ground you will have to run a new ground wire from these items to the ground wire screwed into the fiber glass lid. Your engine ignition system may broadcast more RF (radio) noise now that the grounded metal lid is gone. Jim
