This video has been around for a while. It is unreal. The guy (Pierre Scalia, I think) is currently working on a similar 1:3 scale Ferrari P4 and an undisclosed 1:8 scale model that promises to blow every other model of that scale out of the water. For years he had trouble getting the original P4 blueprints from Fiat but has, apparently, now been allowed access to them.

On the 312, it took him 6 months of running the engine on his own dynamometer to tune the headers so they would give off the exact sound as the real car!! Amazingly, the motor started on the very first try and logged more than fifty hours of running time with no failures or refusals to start. -- Curt

This guy is absolutely amazing!!

Ferrari should buy the model for him for $1 mil. AND give him a brand new 360 Spider and a job to boot!

At this point, is anyone else thinking... just build a REAL one???

3 years for the drawings and 12 years for the parts...

(Yes ladies, he is single... I think).

Somehow real media files are associated with Acrobat on your PC. If you don't have Real player installed, you will need to download it from http://www.real.com/

This thing even has working tach, oil pressure, etc. instruments! There's a fine line between the creator of this thing and say ...... the uni-bomber.

I can certainly respect passion, diligence, and talent. But isn't this a little weird?

Maybe not, I suppose we all have our follies. What else is life?

That clip is a must-see for every car fan. It's something that you can't even describe, everyone would have to see it for themselves. The amount of detail is scary. If I was him, I would build a full-size replica, since he has the technology and the drawings and obviously the brains to pull it off. Maybe now all he needs is a wealthy backer.

I think a full-size replica would be much too easy. The scary part about this model is that every single part was custom made. He even made molds and poured the rubber for the tires and made exact 1:3 scale sparkplugs, complete with the ceramic, brake pads, etc.!! He tried to sell this model at an auction one time to finance his next project, but it didn't reach his reserve. He had offers of trade for real Testarossa's for it, but he declined. I believe the model has visited the Ferrari factory.

I would love to see that guys prop the car up, and go through the gears. Truly amazing, and at the same time BIZARRE!!

This week's AutoWeek (7/28/03) has an article on the model. It indicates the model was sold to Gary Kohs of Fine Art Models. Kohs has since turned down offers exceeding 1/2 million dollars for it!! -- Curt

Just think of the custom and modified cars you could build with those skills and dedication.

For that reason I also call it weird.
