Inexpensive ways to ship an engine?

Hi all,
I've got a 400 lb. crated engine that needs to get from Kentucky to Colorado, in a reasonable amount of time. I've been quoted $560 so far, and 5 days travel time. I have to believe someone can do better than that out there. Any suggestions?

Zip codes are from 42086 to 80304. Thanks!

Any of the larger trucking companies can handle it for you. Overnight Transportation, Roadway, FedEx Freight and host of others. You can also check with moving companies. Don't go with the cheapest just because they're cheap. Getting a motor delivered for $100 less and having it damaged doesn't do you any good. Also make sure you place insurance on the shipment as freight value is limited to a $'s per pound coverage unless you insure the shipment. Believe me the $ per pound will come no where near the value of your motor. Make sure you mark the shipment not to be top loaded. Also make sure you have a good crate and not just a cardboard box over the engine. If the cost of the shipment equates to about $1 per pound (not including insurance) you're in the right ballpark

I used a company called Con-way to ship a 3.0 motor and a 2.0 motor.

How much did you pay, chuck? And how far did it travel?
