Adding door bars to interior roll bar- looking for ideas?
I am looking for advice/ideas on adding side door impact bars to the interior of my 911. Car currently is a lightweight weekend racer, but due to fiberglass doors - its time to add a forward section to the IROC style rollbar currently in car.
Anybody with a strong opinion about the design of the side bars? Single bar vs multiple? Anybody have any pictures of cars that they particular like with a nascar type side bar installed. Please post them if you do. Thanks. Jim |

I have single door bars in my NARP 944. The front is welded low enough to permit easy entry/exit, while the rear is located quite a bit higher, to provide adequate protection. With the lower position of the race seats, the bar runs above my hips, and a bit below my knees.
It's also nice that the front hoop runs through the dash instead of blocking the front several inches of the door opening. The car is no more difficult to get in than before the cage was installed. |
