Recommendation?
I am looking at buying a 2.7 that Stuttgart Automotive in West LA rebuilt a couple of years ago. Living on the east coast I am not familiar with them. What is their reputation?
Thanks,

Are you getting rid of your car or just buying a 2.7 engine? Oh sorry no idea of the reputation of Stuttgart Auto

Omar, No way I'll sell the car. Just looking into a 2.7 transplant.

Well, there doesn't seem to be a lot of enthusiam for this out there. Is the engine near you geographically or are you planning on shipping it across the entire USA? Will the seller provide a warranty for some period of time? Can't you file a 3.0 or other aluminum case engine locally? Give us more details...

Thanks for the questions Jerry. The motor is on the opposite coast from me. It is owned by a fellow Pelican, has good rebuild documentation and this afternoon got an excellent endorsement from another Pelican that has driven the motor when it was still in the car. My only hesitation is to learn something / anything about the shop that did the rebuild.
For any 2.7 CIS owners out there: Is it worth the money to add a 964 grind cam and SSI's?

Stuttgart Auto is owned by Randy Michael. He has been working on Porsches for many many years. They try very hard to keep their clients happy. He is enthusiastic about the make, even if he does not participate in track or social club events.
That being said, any prospective purchase should be checked out. Randy's shop, as well as ours and others, have had our share of clients that could not afford to do it right all the way. To be certain, we all know how that can hurt the shop reputation, but we have to be pragmatic and make a living. So, at times, not all that should be done, gets performed What does this mean? The shop invoice is VERY important to review. Good shops will make comments on what is left out and how far the guarantee goes. Call Randy and ask about that car- he will tell you straight. 310 473 4529 If you need a proper PPI, we'll be glad to help- you can contact us at 818 509-0257 Good luck Dave TRE Motorsports |

Thanks Dave. I really appreciate the feedback.
I have a copy of the paperwork and it looks pretty good to me. All the proper mods were done. Looks like I may have found a motor!
