A good weekend (project and ALMS pics)
I spent Saturday fitting my new IROC/RSR front bumper to my '75. It's a fiberglass piece from Rennspeed, and it's going to look great! I still have to make up some brackets to replace the bumper shocks and drill all the holes. I had to cut a fair amount off the top to get it mounted. The Setrab oil cooler in front is going in the bumper as soon as I get my Aeroquip lines and fittings in the mail.
![]() Sunday, I went with two other guys to the ALMS race at Sears Point. Some awesome cars, both in the paddock and the parking lot! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice pictures, but what about the AJR cars?
A lot of great racing going on. A LMP675 took the overall. The #3 and #4 Vettes were battling each other for the GTS win, and the AJR #23 and #24 were battling for the GT honors. The #24 set the all time GT qualifying record, but the #23 did not qualify and had to start from the back of the pack. Within 40 minutes the #23 was running second in GT right on the #24’s bumper. About 5 minutes left when the 23 made an awesome pass to take the lead. Worst to first! Very exciting weekend! BK |

Sears Point? Hmm, where's that? Oh, you mean Infineon Raceway! Just kidding. I think I will always call it Sears Point, too! Can't teach an old dog new tricks.
Great pics, and a great race. I thought about making the drive up there, but it's a little too far. I'll stick with my yearly trip to Laguna Seca for ALMS! Man, the pics of the Racers's Group cars makes me want to go home and drive the hell out of the P-car. 6.5 more hours to go. ![]()

I’m sorry, I hope I didn’t sound snooty! The Racer’s Group is an awesome team with beautiful cars, but I am just a little partial to the Alex Job team. I would love to see some of the AJR pics once you go through them all.
Also, one of my classmates does data acquisition for the 28 and 29 Ferrari. If you have any pics of those cars I’m sure he would love to see them. Are you going to Laguana? Thanks! BK

The AJR cars are doing so well, its almost boring. However, start one at the back of the pack and you've got some entertainment. Lucas Luhr in the #23 car was amazing to watch. Starting in the back of the field, he was gaining 1 - 2 seconds per lap on the GT class leaders picking his way around everyone else. His co-driver ain't bad either.
Went to the race (and also taped NBCs coverage). Without a doubt, it was much more impressive in person. Fun to watch the two AJR cars battle it out right up to the end for first in GT.

I agree that the race was much more exciting in person. The TV coverage mainly dealt with the race for the overall win. Which was awesome, especially since this was the first ever overall win for a 675, but there were equally impressive races in GTS and GT too. Neither of these got much air time.
I disagree about the GT class being boring. Some teams may be slightly better than others but they are all still relatively close. So it mainly comes down to the drivers. There may or may not be better drivers in GT, but not a better team of drivers. IMO of course. Plus since there are no team orders the AJR cars usually put on a pretty good show. And the Ferrari’s are getting much faster, but not fast enough! Did you tape the driver interviews? Look between Lucas’s right shoulder and the Michelin man. That handsome gentleman is none other than me! I’ll be signing autographs next race.
