Ease of 3.2L install in early car?
My search for a fun track car is nearing an end. However, after talking to the mechanic working on the car, he says that installing a 3.2L in a '71 will be much more involved than the '75 or '76 2.7 motor going in it. Something about hooking up the harnesses, gauges, oil pump, new oil lines, etc. My goal is to have a fun autox/track car with about 200-220hp at the crank, which I don't think the 2.7 will have enough power to boot. How difficult is it to install that 3.2L in an early car? The car will have a 915 tranny. Is it a straight bolt in or do I need alot of extra parts to get the car running? Thanks.

If the 915 is not from a 3,2 it will have to be modified to work with the 3,2 flywheel sensors.

I put a 3.2 in my '75 this summer. Ceck out marcesq's site: http://www.pelicanparts.com/MotorCity/marcesq/
It covers almost everything. Cutting the 915 bellhouseing is no big deal. You will also need a flywheel from an '84-'86 Carrera to mate the trans. to the 3.2 Having gone from a 2.7 to a 3.2 myself, its a no-brainer! Use SSI's or headers and install a Steve Wong chip in the DME and you will be very happy.

I put a 3.2 and 915 into a 1970 chassis this summer, it is more involved, but only marginally. the trani does not fit right, you need to tip the pressure regulator deals on the rear of the motor, sort out the wiring (see my website addictionmotorsports.com), run an extra fuel line, and do some funky oil line routing. But it not really tough if you are at all capable.

Thanks for the help. Here is the situation. I found a '71 that a shop is putting together for the RS look, but I don't think he will sell me the shell only. Thus unless I can sell the 2.7L, the mechanic does not want to be stuck with the motor. Anyone want to buy a good 2.7 that I believe was rebuilt by Bruce Anderson?

A BA motor could have a lot of appeal to a few buyers. Can you document that he really did the work and what he did?
