it's a beauty, the best thing to some out of Sweden since Victoria Silvstedt!
There was a test drive on a UK motoring show called Top Gear and it was certainly faster than a Zonda in a straight line, the car is rumoured to be faster than the McLaren F1 both in acceleration and top speed. Sad to say it but I think it would beat the GT in a straight line although i would hope the GT would be better through the twisty bits

The Carrera GT was designed to be a driver, something you can drive regularly. I can't imagine that that car is the same, but it's D@mn cool. One of the coolest, up there with the Enzo and CGT.

I able to see one up close at the Gumball 3000 start in San Francisco. It was quite spectacular. Supposedly it has a top speed of 245mph.
The guy that owns it is some prince with way too much money. The day before the start of the rally it blew an oil gasket and it turned out that a VW oil gasket fit the car. None of the local VW dealerships had them in stock, so he just bought a brand new VW, took the gasket and threw the keys back to the dealership. Here are some pictures my friends and I took of it: ![]() check out the rear suspension

Agree with the regular-driver aspect of the Carrera GT. I had a Murcielago in the driveway for a weekend recently (I write about cars), and after about 150 miles, I was done with it. Done my 0-100 foolishness several times, given the neighbors rides, etc., and the rest of it was too much of a pain, took too much planning ahead, wondering if I could get up a friend's driveway or if I'd be able to make the turn onto a highway without being able to see out the right rear quarter, etc. There's a huge difference between a car that's usable and one that's simply a toy.

Well, that's the one thing Porsche has always managed to do with its supercars, at least all ones I've driven. No matter how hugely powerful they might be, they've always been cars your grandmother could drive into Midtown Manhattan without much fuss. I doubt they will dispense with this tradition entirely in the Carrera GT.
Who do I write for? Occasionally Car and Driver but typically non-automotive magazines--Conde Nast Traveler, Popular Science, Air & Space, Town & Country (in fact I have a supercars article, including the Carrera, in the current issue). Stephan

Has anyone noticed that the BBC character in the video is our good friend the porsche killer?
Steve, do you also write articles concerning aircraft? If memory serves me correctly I thought I have read some general aviation articles written by a Steve Wilkinson. If you have written for A&S I assume those articles I read were yours. |

Yeah, that's me. I'm a Flying Magazine alumnus from the '70s, as is my wife.

Earlier this year the Koeniggseg was tested in the UK by (I think it was) Autocar and has been officially named the fastest production road car in the world, ever. Finally a car to knock the glorious Mac F1 off it's throne....
I'd still rather a CGT... or a '74 RSR for that matter

Top Gear magazine this month has a great article on the car if you can pick it up at a local newsstand.

The Zonda makes a better sound with its modified Mercedes V12.

Jeremy please bring one to the coffee get together on Sunday! That car sure sounds like it runs like a scalded dog. I would lose the doors though!

Yeah, that video is pretty cool.
Just to clear up some matters. The guy is Jeremy Clarkson - a well known and either loathed or loved UK motoring writer and TV show presenter - both called Top Gear. FWIW, the street legal version of the Radical is quicker again around their test track: http://www.bbc.co.uk/topgear/prog9/plane.shtml

Top gear invited any manufacturer who had a car they believed could beat the zonda around their test track, to apply for the challenge. The condition was that the car had to be road legal. The Westfield XTR2 was able to better the zonda with its suzuki hayabusa engine and only 410kg!
