My 81' SC Targa does not have a tail. I like it without the tail but, I like them with the tail too. Not sure about the "duck tail" on a Targa though. Seems that it should be on an RS only. AHHHH! Got some pics of different tails? I know I am open to many jokes and strange pics but.......?

I think tails are cool if done factory tasteful. My SC did not have one, I really like the look of the car without it. So I will probably keep it that way. I could find other ways to spend cash!!!

The cars, of course look great without a tail, but I usually prefer a tail, duck, early turbo style or Carrera. Any of those three look good on a car like an SC or Carrera.

I'm not fond of Targas and cabs with tails. Coupes yes... it flows with the lines better.

Where can you get an IROC tail/lid? here are assorted tails Help me choose a rear wing Ducktails on targas Duck tails on Targas Duck Tail for later 3.2 Targas Calling all Mid year Targas with Duck Tails more ducktails than you can shake a stick at Any pics of late 70's car with ducktail More assorted, finally a Carrera tail Which tail looks best on a SC Targa?

Porsche actually made some Carrera Targas in the mid seventies. Crash bumpered, ducktailed Targas, so it isn't out of step at all.
IMO, the Ducktail looks good on any 911 with flares, and any coupe regardless. ![]()

Hmmmm, I do like the Carrera Tails. Still not sure about the "duck". Life is good. What to do with my Porsche? Eh, I worked hard for my dream car. Guess I can sound a bit of snobish.

Buy them, sell them
|
When I bought my 2.7, it had a honkin' big turbo tail on it. I thought it handled great, but looked a bit goofy. I replaced it with a standard decklid and immediately noticed a decrease in stability. I gained a lot of that back by adding a chin spoiler, but the moral of the tale (pun intended
![]() Don't worry about running a chin with no tail. It's rock solid at speed, but you'll need a chin if you run a larger tail. I would think that a ducktail with no chin would be ok, but any bigger and you should start thinking about some a chin spoiler, too.

Wow, Not only looks, but performance too? LOL. Guess I left out the most important part of a German car. PERFORMANCE.

Since Jack hasn't post his BB1 picture ..here is mine with a freshly installed C2 lid.
Excuse the color. It'll get a complete paint job later, but I had to get it on and ready for a DE this weekend. Best of both worlds! ![]() |

Souk,
More pics of that tail..... Also does it work automatically as intended or do you have manual control only? Looks good and I think suits the narrow cars better..

MFAFF, I don't have any more pictures yet..that picture was take less than an hour after the masking tape came off the tail last night.
THe page Mikkel refered to is in some foreign language, so I don't know who the gent installed the tail (electronics), but for the tail to go up you'd need a speed indicator (input) and some logic that would trigger the tail you or down. Run a search on C2 decklid, and you'll see lots of posts on the installation. |

Its a personal thing. I like the look without and around town I am tailless, but when I do drivers ed., I have a early factory turbo tail that I put on. The tail helps with stability when you get over 70 MPH, and you can really feel the difference. The early turbo tail is one piece and fiberglass so its not that heavy. The rubber lip is the heavy part of the tail. It still looks good but it also looks dated.
