Current Value of SC's
What seems to be the current market for a good SC?
|
Well, judging by the fact that I can't sell my car, I'd have to say that prices for SCs are pretty low right now. A lot of the people I've been talking to say that there are a lot of SCs going in the $10,000 range. I'm not prepared to sacrifice my car for that little money, and I'd like to think that my car is in better shape than the $10,000 cars, but I'm not sure that's true. I do believe that "good" SCs are still in the $12,000 - $14,000 range, but if you find someone who is in a hurry to get rid of theirs, you can get one for less.

Depends how good you want. Pristine low miles are likely high teens. Good sub 100K miles cars low-mid teens depending on condition. Higher miles and cars with needs 10K plus or minus.
I don't think there is a magic number. The condition of these cars is all over the map since they are over 20 years old. And pictures can lie. |
From what Im seeing in my area, $12,000-$14,000 seems about right for a 'great' condition driver (not concourse, but damn nice).
The reason they arent selling is because prices for the G50 Carreras have dipped well below $20,000 and some of the early model 964's are even cheaper. I guess the rational is 'why not buy a car 8-10 years newer for an extra $3-4,000?' |
IMO, values on SCs and Carerra are dropping like rocks here on the east coast. I have a 130k-ish 85 Carrera, and was thinking about selling it to buy a G50 Carrera or 964. The car is in very good shape, and I got 1 call in 5 weeks with it advertised at $13.9k. YMMV.
