$24,000.00 for a "daily" drive 911 what to buy?
A friend of mine thinks he wants a 911 for his daily driver. He wants to spend around 24K. I am familiar with my old 74 hot rod but it is certainly not a daily driver.
I am thinking 87-89 coupe or targa. ...sound about right?

Check the AC thread on the 87-89's - great car - maybe he can get one for $21,000 and spend $2500 to get the AC up to par for Houston, Texas...

Yep, '87-89 or maybe with some looking around he can get a good 964.

I couldn't agree more. In that price range you could get an excellent 87-89 model!

For that amount, you can find a pretty well sorted out 964, possibly a 93 or maybe even a 94. You can also save a little longer and you will be looking at higher mileage 993's.

Or even this '88 for $16,500! First $16,500 takes it

I'd say '87-'89 without a doubt if he wants to do it all in cash with the money he has or I'd put a that 24 down on a 993 and get some good financing and pay it off in a year and a half/two years.
