934 front end progress
 

I've been in the process of mounting a 934 style front end on my 930. Below are some pics. I still need to tidy up the wiring, and make my grill covers before painting it.

Also, I am going to smooth out the opening for the front oil cooler. I cut that out quickly yesterday to test the oil cooler. Not a clean cut, but I gave myself plenty of room to smooth it out.

With the new oil cooler (Setrab 172) the engine temps yesterday never reached the 1st mark on the gauge. It was 86 degrees and humid here in NC yesterday. I did a mix of city driving (stop-n-go) and interstate.

Front end is quickly removable via 6 DZUS fasteners for easy trailer loading since I track the car quite often.

Thanks man. Hopefully if I can finish my grills and my ductwork I can paint it next weekend.

Its going to have black grills, and I think I'm going to paint the insets of the openings black so that no red will show up behind the grills. That should help make it look pretty good I think.

Any thoughts on that?

Sounds great. It will add visual depth to the openings too. I love the setup but it's probably too low for anything but track work right.

No, not really. I was driving it around yesterday going over railroad tracks , etc and never had a problem scraping. It really isn't any lower than the stock valence. It simply sticks out much farther than the stock one does.

I drove it to my mechanics and he has a pretty decent dip going into the driveway. Just took it slow, wasn't an issue.

I finally finished my front end project this weekend. I painted it on Sunday, and finished the install on Monday.

BTW you mentioned that you were at Lowes MS. Did you happen to see a white SC with a IROC tail and blue headlights?

I was there the following weekend with NASA - didn't have the car ready for the Blue Ridge event.

I'll be at VIR and CMP for the rest of the year alternating between those 2.

The 934 is a favorite of mine.

Brian, great work. I am interested to see if you notice any difference at the track. I will be working on mounting the front valence and rear bumper through the winter.

I'm currently working on some additional grills to reduce airflow for colder weather events.

Nice, but I'd be forever scared to death of driveways. I scrape my RSR bumper all the time.

I love the 934 front end. Very nice.
The center opening is for the oil cooler, the next openings are for brake cooling. I'm assuming you aren't using water/air intercoolers, so are you going to do anything with the outside most openings? For aero purposes I would think it best to either cover those openings with something (lexan maybe), stick a couple of big round lights in there ala 935, or vent them towards the outside of the car like the 996.

What's up with the smile? Is there something under it that is causing the bump.

That would look very intimidating in somebodies rear view mirror. I would have to pull over for fear that I might be sucked up by that thing.

The smile is old and rusted, but I'd rather spend money going to the track right now, than to replace the smile. In that one spot where it is "bowed", the metal strip inside it is very rusted, and flexible. Thus, the bowing effect.

Center opening has a Setrab 172 oil cooler behind it. I am in the process of making additional grills that will close off the larger outer openings.

I think it would look cool with lights like this, but that would also add weight.

Your 934 front end looks fantastic.
I also never heard of a DZUZ fasteners. After a quick Google search looks like I'll adapt those for use on my 930s air dam.
