Venting........
Bought my SC 3 years ago with spanking new Pirelli P6000 Sport Veloce's - orig owner paid for and threw out receipt. Last summer I noticed a shimmy in the wheel at 100-130 Kph. Found out that my front right tire is defective! "Belt separation" I was told, caused an imperfectly round tire. Re-balancing has had slight improvement, but still an annoyance on the highway. The tires have about 8000km on them. Talked to Pirelli - they said "We will replace upon presentation of receipt". I explained my situation, and they said "too bad - no receipt - no replacement." They made some reference to the black market and stolen tires as an excuse. My point of view is, their tire is now a piece of useless crap to me or anyone. Whether it was stolen or not, I feel they should replace the tire. Thieves can't cause belt separation on purpose to exercise warrunty - right?? I realize I am ignorant to Pirelli's position having not worked in the tire industry. So much for keeping customer's happy. I will no longer be inclined to by Pirelli's but I assume all the other tire co.'s would do the same. Why can't the Home Depot or Best Buy sell Pirelli's? ![]() I am rather p**ssed as you might guess. Now I am facing replacing the defective if I can get one ($250CAD) or going with 2 front used from another manufacturer. Ideas or comments welcome.

It might be worthwhile to contact the dealer p.o. got the tires from. They keep records, too, something about legal ramifications ... so they might be able to verify thaat you were indeed the same person that bought the car shortly after the previous owner put the tires on the car you currently still own!
In a story with a similar 'disclaimer' and bad taste it generated over 30 years ago ... In the early '70s Michelin XWXs were the hot setup for 911's ... but a friend had a blowout on a hot summer day at speed on his 1970 911T! The only local Michelin dealer wouldn't give him a warranty replacement because driving above the posted speed limit was considered 'abusive treatment' by the driver, in the opinion of that dealer ... and the tire had been pretty well chewed up by the time the driver got the car slowed back down under control from the 90+ mph speed he was driving at the time! It seemed to us at the time that the dealer was taking the stance that full use of the car and tire's performance by the owner ... was considered abuse!!!

I actually tried the dealer - they could not find any records. How nice.
I wonder what speed rating your friend's tires were? Blowout at speed - scary.

I also had a broken belt on a Pirelli P6000 tire. I have replaced them with Yokohama ES100's. I don't like Pirelli tires, they were on the car when I bought it.

SOB - another P6000 problem?
I should consider getting rid of both fronts then perhaps. You like ES100's? I have heard good things about them.

I have the ES100's in the front and like them so far. I use my car on the street only, at least so far.
