NEED HELP! Replacing rear deck panel

Hi all,

I'm just about to embark on replacing my rusty rear deck with a patch panel I've thieved from another 911. If anyone has done this, I'd love to have some insight/tips/tricks to make it a less daunting task. I expect that it will be 20-30 hours of work, and will require lots o' welding. Depends on whether or not you're going to cut and weld or drill then weld...ie, do you want to spend hours drilling out the spot welds (some you'll end up cutting as they're a string of spots that form a line) or just cut and patch...

For the drilling:

buy several spot weld bits
clean off all of the undercoating to see where the spot welds are (they're more than you think!)
Do the process in several steps so you don't get frustrated....

I did half the spot welds one night, the next night I did the other half...then I spent 1 night drilling out the spots on the donor piece...then another night welding in the new piece.

Get a new gasket for the engine tin to body sealing area while you have it all apart.. yours is pretty much shot...;-)
