HELP!! New Voltage Regulator from Pelican is not like old one!!!
Hi guys, FINALLY got the new diode assembly for my alternator yesterday after a 3 week back-order. Got it all together this morning, installed the new voltage regulator purchased from our host, and noticed that it is wired differently. Old one has one blue wire. The new one has one blue wire and one yellow wire. Obviously, the blue goes where the old one went. The yellow wire, however, I'm not sure of. The VR kit came with new screws, insulators for the female spade connectors on the two wires, and two adaptors that convert studs to spade connections. I don't know if the yellow wire should be grounded or connected to the positive stud that's nearby. Don't want to blow anything up at this point as I've been without the car long enough and I'm going through withdrawal!
Anyone have experience with this style regulator? I'm anxious to get my car back on the road!!!

I think Warren did a post on this some time ago, but my search didn't find it. BTW, the old style points & spring V. Regulators are very reliable, and adjustable. I found a used original for my car through the classifieds here, sent it to Loren @ systems consulting, and he set the output at 13.9 Volts...That, a spare CD unit & coil , and I have much of a spare ignition...Here's a link...Loren may have a V regulator that would be an exact match for you... http://www.systemsc.com/

Thanks. The VR that I got was purchased from our host. I'm not even sure my old one is bad, but since I had ordered the new one prior to discovering two of my diodes were bad, I figured I'd go ahead and install it just to make everything fresh. My intuition tells me that the yellow wire most likely is for the ground connection since the old one had a metal heat sink that acted as a path to ground. The new one doesn't have any metal that contacts the mounting screws except for the two rivets that hold the assembly together. I just want to be sure before I put everything back together and smoke $100 worth of parts...
