New chap on PPBoard
Hi all,
I picked up a 1989 Marine Blue Carrera 3.2 a few months ago and it's been a blast. Spent a lot of time reading up on stuff here so I thought I'd pop up and say 'hi'. The car is bone stock as far as I can tell, right down to the 'flapper-door' air-flow meter. The Factory Options list includes a limited slip (which is definitely there :)) and a 'shorter shifting travel' gearshift (241). Only having driven 915 gearboxes ('76 carrera 3.0 / 930 drop-nose) before, I'm not sure how much difference the short-travel has over the normal G50 boxes, but I'm sure there's a difference. Anyone got experience here?? Engine was recently overhauled and it shows. No oil droppings on the driveway and very occasional bellow of smoke at cold start. Only workshop time so far was for an oil change. Let's hope it stays that way. I've got the odometer fixed and I changed the front hood struts as they were failing (d@mn those were a pain to get in and out!). Next weekend project is to change the signal/flash stalk. How amusing - don't you love getting a 'new - old' car? So much to tinker. Anyways, rambling a bit. Just wanted to drop in and introduce. Pics at link below, if interested. Cheers Puf |
This is the place to find answers to the really tough questions that you will have about your car. This group has helped me through some really big situations. This Porsche stuff is addictive, just wait. Get ready to spend some Ben Franklins soon. Welcome

Oh and we all love pictures too! Welcome.

Welcome aboard! This board is almost as addicting as the Porsche iteslf, particularly in the Winter for those of us in teh colder climates. Recently changed my turn signal stalk (among other things). Have fun!

Thanks all for the kind welcome. SmileWavy
I already foresee spending too much time on this forum... The link to some pictures is that little housewww thingy/icon in the bar under my signature. Not too many in there yet - got to do some detailing before posting any more :p Thanks again. Puf |
