Board Shorthand - Glossary Needed?

Maybe I'm just slow on the up-take, but I just can't figure out a couple of those "shorthand" codes used on this and other forums.

Like most men, reluctant to ask for help, I've muddled my way through most of them and can now IMHO, LMAO, PO, NOS, FWIW, PPI, etc. with the best of them. I've been able to figure most of these silly things out from context, but a couple leave me baffled:

What the snappin' turtles do ROFL and YMMV mean?

I suspect that there's more than me out there that are struggling through these things - do we need to lobby for a forum glossary?

Rot 911 08-11-2003 07:15 AM

IMHO: In my humble opinion
LMAO: Laughing my ass off
PO: Previous owner
NOS: New old stock
FWIW: For what it is worth
PPI: Pre purchase inspection.
ROFL: Rolling on the floor laughing
YMMV: You mileage may vary

BBI= Black Beauty #1 Jack Olsen's mildly modified '73 911T with 3.6L engine
BBII= Black Beauty #2 reincarnation of Jack's old car, this time in a '72 shell with same 3.6L engine, but huge RSR like flares.

island911 08-11-2003 11:28 AM

I thought BBII= Black Beast . . . replacement of Jack's old car.

91C2wrencher 08-11-2003 12:10 PM

F.O. = F*&K Off , maybe? although that seems a bit crude for the F-boys
PLO = peace, love, out
WTF = what the F*&k?
NA = normally aspirated

Here's the most important web forum acronym--one that could be used around here a LOT more often...

WTLW

It stands for Welcome To Last Week and it's used when someone posts the same stupid picture we've all seen a thousand times and acts like they're especially clever to have brought it to our attention. :D

island911 08-11-2003 01:38 PM

Yeah, WTLW; AKA "Klink" in some . . .corners. ;)

Don't get Klinked

This might help:

Warren=Pay attention
John Walker=Morer payer attentioner
Leland=SCWDP cum ZWDP
Jack Olsen=BB(n)
Moderator=You'reOTBuddy
etc.

I think that tidies up pretty much everything.

Jw

Glad I'm not a dunbass. Or maybe I am for telling people that their spark plug threads could be better.

(If he changes the spelling on that, I'll really look like a dumbass).

One of my favorites! We use it for the guys that show up at the track with the performance cars that never exceed the speed limit.
:)
