Heres a couple with Kinesis Supercups--17x7.5 and 17x9 with 215/45's and 255/40's. |
cegerer:
that "slammed" 911 is too funny for words great drawing not sure if I want to do that to my cars, but that would certainly get attention at the local A&W drive-in for sure! http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/pray.gif |
Nobody posted one of an early 911 with the really original wheels..Chrome plated or steel painted, take you pick. I love my fuchs, but the early steelies just look way cool...so damned smooth...:)
|
I was also expecting that somebody would post a pic of a car with the steel wheels with the center chrome hub cap with P badge.
I have a set off the car and have often thought about putting then back. Jeff |

Fikse's FM5 and FM10's 8" and 9" both. |
My Targa isn't an "early" car but, rather, a middle year 911 still with no flares. Do have chrome center caps (cups) though.
English minilites, 6.5" x 15" running Yoko ES100s 215 / 60 / 15 http://members.aol.com/jms325ix/imag...own-at100k.jpg Slightly lowered otherwise close to stock. |
Here's one with steel wheels (although I really like the slammed look with the 19 inchers ...... ) ;)

beautiful car Steve--I know you get asked this a million times but what mods did you do to get those wheels/tires to fit? Are you happy with them? Thanks
|
JonT - nice pics... btw, when you drove by me the other day, your car sounded mean as hell. What exhaust do u have? My car is pretty loud, but yours blows the doors off most of the 911's i've EVER heard. Props;) .
I would like to see your car up close sometime. We should have our own Big Bear Run VI...call it Badass Bob Boozer Dr. Run or Down and Dirty Dodge Run :D Patrick |
Thanks Jon, not a million times yet, just 639,244 times :D . I'm happy with them - car looks a lot less dated. To get them to fit, I needed the offset within a millimeter or two, and needed to roll the fender lips at the front and rear. I used a baseball bat for the front lips, and a pair of vice grips to fold the small rear ones. The offset of the rear wheels were originally about 5 mm off, so I think I milled about 2 mm off the backside of the rim, and 3 mm off the lug face of the rear brake rotors. I'm about 2 mm from the trailing arm bolts, and a millimeter or two away from the fender lips, so it doesn't rub at all. The fronts are 225-48/18 and rears are 265-35/18.

Here's mine with 6 inch cookies on all four corners.

Isn't there a single long-nose car out there with later model wheels? Aside from the web site illustration, I don't see any in this thread.
|
Jack...funny you should ask...that's exactly what my original post said. I'm looking for Pre-74 cars with different wheels. Although it's been cool to see some of these other cars!

As I said before, unless you have flares, why would anyone buy Fikse's that are 6" wide for an early car?
