Karting in Los Angeles?

Does anyone know of any karting places in L.A. like those listed in this thread: Karting in the Bay Area

I did the one day class here:

http://www.jhrkartracing.com/

a few years back.

What a blast!

I really wanted to get into it, but unfortunately there are no tracks that were convenient to me in OC (or, as it is now apparently known, "The OC").

The closest one at the time was one in Riverside, which was actually a pretty neat road course, and super cheap to run on. The problem was that it was still kinda far. I also do not (and did not) have a pick up truck or SUV, so carting the kart was going to be difficult (although I could have just gotten a hitch and a trailer).

I looked around for used karts and was surprised at how little they cost, given how much fun they are and how fast they are. It's a neat sport if you have a track close by.

Definitely go Jim Hall. The people are great, the prices are reasonable, and the karts are ****in furious fun. I got a comped half-day for a magazine article, and when I got back in my 914 I was like, "Dude, this thing's a turd. I need a 3.6." Yeah, karting kicks ass.

EDIT: Who needs a track when you have streets in front of your house?

Thanks guys - I am looking for something similar to Speed Ring up here in the Bay Area. It is for a Bachelor Party deal and we need to be able to rent the karts on sit and play for a few hours.

not familiar with a so cal outlet but heres a link or two that might get you pointed in the right direction. dont show loaded from the party, they will not let you run. a couple of my friends went and had a few coldies before hand, they smelt of beer and were denied. makes sense and my buddies understood, they just went back to the bar and raced some stools.

sorry could not manage an upload. try GO RACING magazine or kart finder classified on a search engine

I've been to Jim Hall (1 day class) and to Dromo in Anaheim. Jim Hall is a pro school, Dromo is for fun - perfect for a Bachelor Party.

naw...go to willow springs...KRC racing

better track...smooth and perfect for karts...heard they just built a 1 mile + track...

tell Matt, Mark and Jaysen sent you...he may cut you a deal

the other schools start you off slow...classroom, single speed karts etc...

KRS throws you in a 125cc shifter...what a blast.

if you were a 9year old wanting to really learn good fundamentals, or a 30year old who really wanted to learn the "art" of karting Jim Hall is good...if you are a fly by the seat of your pants and just want a blast, you can't beat a 125cc shifter

Actually ...

This thing will beat the crap out of a 125cc shifter any day of the week.

I love psychosis ...

Can everyone say "power induced oversteer"? How about "opposite lock drift"? I knew that you could...

EDIT: It's an 1100cc go kart ... in case you didn't know.

I can drive a kart in a cross lock slide into a corner on pavement like a sprint car or I can drive it in smooth and out smooth. Jim Hall teaches smooth and that happens to be the fastest way around the track. 125cc karts are not a good place for beginners to start if they are serious about technique. None of this has to do with a bachelor party. There is a big differnce between a fun kart and a racing kart. When you get to go into the corner rubbing the the guy in front at 70 MPH or hooked up nose to tail 5 karts long at 90, you are karting the way it's done. Unfortuneately, I had to give it up after 30 years shortly before I turned 50. It's very strenuous and I'm in decent shape.

That is sick ! I'd be interested to see how it stood up against a 125 shifter on a regular kart track, with the extra weight and wheelbase. A good (hairy?) medium is the Rotax 250cc twin, basically two 125s geared together in tandem, at 78 HP. They were used in the older Superkarts in the '80s.

Check out the video at http://www2.nurburgring.de/web/video/gixxerkart.mpeg Yes, karts rule, and they teach you vehicle control like nothing else (especially when you start on dirt ovals at 8 yrs!). Ask most F1 or CART drivers. I bought an Emmick/Yamaha kart from Jim Hall II - good folks.
