distributor recurve?

Do I need to recurve my distributor when going from a 2.4 T engine to a 9.5:1 E camed 2.4? I looked at the specifications and both are exactly the same both at idle and at 6000 rpms. My question is even if they both start and end at the same place are the curves themselves different?

Does anyone with the shop manuals for the 2.4's have the distributor curve data? I only have data on the 2.0's and 2.2's. Is your distributor from an MFI'd or CIS's engine?

Tim, do you have a place in mind to do distributor work? I'm just keeping my eyes open in case I need to attend to the distributor in Lu's 73E. No one I've talked to around here (NoVA) knows where to go for dizzy work.

Good luck on your engine rebuild. What HP is it expected to put out?

I have no clue who would do a distributor recurve at this point, but I'm going to my machineshop tomarrow. I'll ask him and see.

Dtw and I did a rough calculation and we're thinking that the engine I'm building, a 9.5:1CR E camed 2.4L, should make just under 180 HP. not a half bad jump from 140.

Originally dtw and I were supposed to have the same exact specs for our engines but it turns out he's got some nice little crane cams instead of E's. They are halfway between an E and an S in terms of profile. His engine we guess should make just under 190.

I guess there's no such thing as a stock T rebuild

Tim,

All 2.4 T's, E', & S's had the same curve ... the ONLY differences between them was which rev-limiter rotor was fitted from the factory! Likewise for the 2.7 CIS engines, which used a 'T' spec distributor thru the end of '77 production!

Warren,
Best news I've had all day. One less thing to worry about on this rebuild.
