Cost of all 101 Projects

I was bored, so I tallied up the total cost if you did all 101 projects in Wayne's book (Of course, not every project can be done on one car: if you have MFI, you won't be spending money on a carb rebuild. And I didn't include the 912 "project".) But here it is, anyway:

Min. $17,641
Max. $35,040.

It took all of ten minutes. The wonders of spreadsheets. Besides, I just got my 911E back on its wheels today and drove it for the first time in a month, so, yes, I do have some new time on my hands.

Charlie...thanks! Truely funny. And creative. Got any pics you can post of the '50 Vee Dub? That could be even more unique than this post...

$17641 - $35040... thats actually not bad tab for one helluva car.

Does that include CA 8.25% sales tax?

how about comparing that to what you'd expect to pay someone to do all the work?

Jon, I shudder to think what it would cost to pay someone else to do it.

pwd72s, I don't have any photos of the '50. I must remedy that situation. For Bay Area folks, it can be seen on the showroom floor of Boardwalk Auto Center in Redwood City. My father owns the place (that's how I got my start in VWs and Porsches - my dad started selling them in 1955. I was literally raised on them.) It breaks the ice, and helps sell new beatles. Besides, I don't have garage space for it. It's olive green with tan corduroy interior. It's very fun to drive, but in a decidedly different way than the 911. I love the semafore turn signals and looking through the rear view mirror at the split rear window

How about paying someone to write it? Here's a question for you: Does it take longer to do all the projects, or write about them? Some are longer than others (engine rebuild), but some are short too...

Hmmm, dunno...

Thumbs up

ckissick,
I work right down the street from Boardwalk and have stopped by many times to look at the Bug. BEAUTIFUL!!! (I used to get my Jetta VR6 work done there)
Really neat to comapre the first bug to the newest.
Excellent marketing stragety and cheep storage!
