Aux oil cooling fan "on temp"

My bentley 911 service manual says the Aux oil cooling fan comes on at 188C/370F, I have had oil temp up to about 270, and the fan never started, 370 is past the bottom of the red block so I am thinking I will never see it run. Can anybody confirm the 188C/370F and has anybody seen there fan run?

Thanks,

Jack

Hmmmmmmm....I am putting a Carrera style external oil cooler and fan set-up next weekend....I am going to order the 190 degree F temperature switch.....I believe if the fan didn't turn on until 370 degrees F....Your engine would be toast already...The Fans job is to turn on and keep the car cool.....not wait until the engine is fried........

Boo Boo......I am going to order the lower of the 3 temp ranges available from PP.....91 degrees Celsius.....vs the 110 degrees Celsius stock thermoswitch......which I believe is around 225 F......Makes more sense to me than ....244 F....

Operating temps should stay around 220F to 230F in a perfect world...right??? I always seem to be wrong about these things...

Nope, Wil is, of course, correct. The stock fan comes on at 245. While that is pretty hot, I think people get too wrapped up in the "250 is too damn hot" words of Bruce Anderson. I believe I have seen him write that 250 is not bad unless it is for extended periods of time. I figure while I would like to avoid 250 myself, the factory probably knew what it was doing.

I wired a manual switch so I can turn it on whenever I want.
