Annoying Noise Sensor on '75 Carrera
 

I have a 75 Carrera, I'm not quite sure how to describe my problem, but I'll do my best :-)

The sound sensor (part number 911 617 118 00) that makes a rather warbling noise (if the ignition is on, and the doors are open) is continually on on my Porsche after I start the engine. When the ignition is switched on, but the engine isn't running, the sensor doesn't make any noise, but as soon as the engine is ticking over the sensor noise kicks in - any thoughts?

I was wondering if I could just take out the sensor and thus ignore it - but this seems a bit too cheap and risky for me!

mine never worked, i'm sure the PO disconnected it...

I took mine out a few weks after I Bought mine, it drove me crazy!
If I remember right, the small buzzer is on a terminal block and just pulls out of the female spade connectors behind the dash. If I can remember correctly I did this from the trunk area and let it run while the box was buzzing, felt for it and pulled it out..... Viola! You might also access it from the speedometer hole once you pull it out. If you have a problem finding it post again, it's a little tight getting to it and pulling out.

Not sure if it's in the same place as my '82, but look in the trunk behind the gas/oil level gauge. Mine was plugged in there. It was removed by a PO, but I have since installed a headlight reminder beeper in its place (after leaving my lights on for 14 hours and running the battery into the ground).

it's in the dash, behind your guage on the far left.

Thx guys - I found it via the hood - I pulled it out - no more noise :-)

I just hope it wasn't a noise sensor for any other important component...

Nah, it's just a warning relay letting you know the door's open with the key in the ignition...welcome to the mid-year cars! We of the '74-'77 cars have learned to deflect our share of abuse from the 'early' and the 'sc' crowd!;) Always nice to see beautiful examples of our lineage, guys.
