My 85' 911 Coupe

Here are a couple pics of my 85' 911 Coupe. I have had it about 5 weeks.

I think the rear spoiler may have been added at some point. I have the original bill of sale and here are the options:
Leather Trim
Steering wheel with raised hub
Monterey digtl Cassette Radio (replaced with CD now)
Power Door locks
Sport Seats
16 inch forged alloy wheels
Automatic heating control
cruise control
sport shock absorbers
alarm system
electric sunroof

would any of that get your a rear spoiler?

oh, in the first pic there is some shadow on the car from a fence. Paint actually looks real nice.

Very nice! Your wheels are on backwards though. The front wheels belong on the rear and vice-versa. The front wheels should be 6 inches wide and the rears should be 7 inches wide. Very nice looking car!Welcome to the board!

The tea tray spoiler was available but I'm not sure how it would show up on your window sticker.
Sport shocks, seats and front and rear spoilers were a package but I think the standard spoiler would have been the Whale tail, the one without the flipped up sides.

Very Nice looking 911, and the wheel thing will be an easy fix

Thanks guys. Can't say enough about how much I like the car. Now I just need to learn everything I can about it.

Nice catch David. I was hoping somebody would pick up something like that. I really hadn't noticed that the wheels weren't the same. I have pirelli P4000 P205/55 R15 tires on the front and Pirelli P6000 P225/50 R16 tires on the back. Will switching the wheels work ok? The P6000 seem a bit light on tread. Doing the penny test it only goes in to about his eyes.

Does anyone recognize what kind of lugs I have? I have seen there are aluminum and steel ones out there. I was curious if I need that special lug socket for the aluminum lugs.

All those tires need to be removed from all of the wheels. They are all mounted wrong. You've got the larger 225s on the narrower 6 inch wheels, and the smaller 205s on the wider 7s.

You should have that done right away!

The shop that mounted those tires should also be slapped around a bit.

Looks like you have the stock aluminum lugs, with one wheel lock on each wheel. Check the glove box and the area around the spare tire/jack and hopefully you'll find the key!

you have two different types of Pirrellis (P4000 and P6000) in sizes that are mounted incorrectly to the rim widths; and the rims are on the wrong end of the car...but the tire sizes are in the proper location.
You have a lot of switching to do .
Might as well start out with four new tires that match, are the proper size, mounted on the right rims, and bolted to the proper end of the car.
There are other, safer ways to make your car 'different' than everyone else's. he he

I go with SoCal911SC: The shop who mounted them should give you a free remount and rebalance. Find the key for the wheel lock and make a spare. On remounting the tires, watch for the directional arrow to face the right way. 225's go on the 7's (rear) and the 205's go on the 6's (front) How could they miss that? Are the tires at least mounted in the right direction? You have a choice to have the balancing weights put on the inside so that they don't show on the outside. Some people like, some don't. Cheers.

The proper tail for that your stock configuration is the Carrera tail. I believe many were put on by dealers here in the states. You have a turbo tail which many prefer.

BTW, congrats on the car and welcome to the board.

As Rick said, this tail was added. If you like it, keep it.

I don't think you have wheel locks on. The lug that is different looks like the lug that a wheel lock cylinder slides onto, but the locks are not there. So it should not be a problem to get them off, just like a regular lug nut.

Does anyone have a favorite set of locks that look good on Fuchs?

I ordered my new fronts from Tirerack.com and I wasn't disappointed.

Beautiful car. Red is so appealing.

Do you have the stock 6/7 Fuchs on your SC? If so, I'm not sure you really need wheel locks. I wonder if anyone would steal those wheels anymore.

Don't try to corner fast in that thing w/ the rims reversed, (F/R), someone at a tire shop needs a serious wedgie+ hung from their sign by his waistband. Jeezus.

As for wheel locks, you don't have them. Or need them. Most original factory locks have been hacked off by now, (like yours), nobody steals fuchs rims off of old 911s and those locks will malfunction at the worst possible time, like in the middle of the dessert at night, etc...

Harvey Weidman, CA. Porsche wheel refinisher/guru says that he has never heard of a set of wheels being stolen off of a 911! EVER! And his customers have the nicest fuchs on earth!

"Why get shot removing someone's wheels when you can steal the whole car in 30 seconds"? was his remark. No shizz.

Thanks for all the replies! I do like the spoiler a lot. Just didn't know if it was original or not. Doesn't make a whole lot of difference to me.

Looks like I'm going to take the advice of maxnine11 and get all new tires.

How good are the aluminum lugs?

Aluminum lug nuts are just fine be sure to coat the threads with antisieze, soft socket helps keep the finish nice, most important... use a torque wrench to the proper setting.
