73 RS Carrera in new Xbox game

Hey guys, sorry if this is too off topic. I run a website for Xbox gamers, and I thought I'd give you a heads-up about a new game - Project Gotham 2... The reason for the heads up - check the images I captured from the test version this weekend :-)

and my fave....

That's not a '74, it's a '73 RS. Very cool!!!!!

I already finished the original Project Gotham Racing. Looking forward to the new one. When does it come out?

Tyson, here ya go. More EA f1 based mods. Try out the lemans stuff, running at night is a trip. The Audi R8s are a pretty sweet ride. I am enjoying the heck out of the Konrad saleen S7. I have heard that there is a night version of the ring too. I can barely do it in the daylight. LOL

5axis, I can't download anything to my driving sim yet. I'm using a Mac for internet, and I just bought a PC for driving sims. I'm going to get cable for the PC so I can race online and download all the new mods.

I've been practicing Laguna Seca and Sears Point. I've been using the Mini-Cooper challenge. It's a blast! I really can't believe how far these sims have come. I've driven Laguna in real life many times, and the sim is spot-on. It's just unbelievable. They got the elevation thing down now, so the cork-screw at Laguna is blind, just like in real life. I've never driven Sears Point, but I now feel like I'll know it when I finally drive it in person.

And if I ever drive a Formula 1 car...........

Interesting. That answers a question I have had for a while. That is a Microsoft game. Porsche had an exclusive deal with Electronic Arts for a long time (Need for Speed series), so only EA could market games with Porsches in them.

I guess that licensing deal is over.

Hey, that is my game, i actually work for MS in the day

Gotham blows GT 4 away, spent some time with GT 4 last week at ECTS, if you have GT3, do not bother spending dough on GT4.

If you think the cars look cool wait till you hear them, sourced from the actual cars. Yes, even the 73 RS. I often have the game running in the background in the office with the 73 RS just idling away...

And it is a real blast to play.

Forgot to add. It will be out this Holiday and you could play head to head on with folks all over the world through Xbox Live. Should have a Pelican challenge over Live with the 73RS.

On what basis? I have played Gotham I and while it looks pretty and sounds pretty - it drives arcade. I like GT because it is less arcadey.

Is Project Gotham 2 a sim or an arcade game? I'd love to get a sim with more tracks than GT3. Does Gotham2 have damage simulation? What about simulated drivers, are they smarter than GT3, i can't stand the AI in GT3, they all run the same line at different speeds, and they bump, they never pass.

I guess a PS2 version is right out, huh?

So does the XBox development get done at the main campus in Redmond?

B, rambling

On the Arcade Sim spectrum, if Grand Prix Legend is Sim and Ridge Racer is Arcade. Gotham will be in between the 2, while GT3 is closer to Grand Prix Legend. The cars in Gotham are easier to handle than GT3 overall.

Gotham 2 does not have real tracks, it is a city based racer.
It definately has better AI than GT.
Gotham 1 and Gotham 2 cars have damage modelling.
No PS2 version for Gotham, Xbox exclusive.
Developed in Liverpool by Bizarre Creations and Published by MS

The cars in Gotham2 were tuned by a guy that used to race 928s, did 1 Lap, raves about 930s and is an overall Porschephile

That is probably my biggest peev about GT3 also. They are claiming the AI is going to be better in GT4, but that is what they said about GT3 too. GT4 is rumoured to have over 500 cars, and many more tracks than GT3, but no Porsches except for the Ruf cars.
I will have to give Gotham a try, but I have tried MANY other racing games, and none have even come close to the physics of the Gran Turismo series which is why I have stuck with the PS.
