What does this bit do?

While I had the alternator out of my 88 930 I made a general inspection of the engine bay and discovered this hose mostly severed. I fixed the problem but it got me wondering what is it for? Any ideas |
I believe that's the Falopian tube....;)

Geez, well I'm not going to ask about the gaping hole to the right of it!

LOL...sorry, coudn't resist.

I am thinking that it takes the boost pressure from the turbo inlet manifold and feeds it into a vacuum/pressure sensor for DME input...
thats my guess Steve Hall |
I thought that I would update this post with correct information (I was a newbie when I was asking). A 930 has CIS not DME!
OK I finally worked it out... It is the feed line to the control check valve for the air pump system. The air from the manifold goes into this check valve (the check valve stops reverse air flow into the manifold), then into a diverter valve (Slightly left in the photo). The diverter valve opens and closes with the changes in manifold pressure thereby regulating the output from the air pump! |
