How do you remove the dust sheilds?
Hi gentlemen,
I have done a search on "dust sheilds" but not found what I'm after. Can someone tell me what the procedure is to remove the dust sheilds from the brakes? Thanks Tristan |

For the fronts you have to pull the tire, then pull the bearing cap, then pull the bearings and hub, then there are three bolts that hold the thing on.
The fronts are, I think a little more complicated, but I've never done it myself so I can't say for sure. If you have to pull the big nut then it's probably a big pain, but if you do not have to pull the big nut then it's probably not too much worse than the front. I think you have to pull the big nut.

I think you are referring to the dust shield for the spindle that the rotor is mounted to. Tap around the dust shield evenly with a hammer, as if you were trying to knock it from the back out.

tear it down until the rotors are off, then unbolt them.

As the others pointed out, to remove the front you have to remove the hub assembly. To remove the rear just unbolt the dust cover.

ruf,
Too funny, when I wrote my reply your picture hadn't quite loaded yet! Sorry if I sounded a little abrasive when I couldn't see the pic. ![]() Tristan |

So is it no. 33 in the diagram that you are trying to remove?
If it is follow my previous advise, if it is the the shield behind the hub follow everyone else advice. |

Three M8 bolts on either end, and you are done!
Very easy on the rear ... caliper and hub must come off for the front!
