Anybody have a Dansk 1 in 2 out?
I have a lead on a good used one - and I miss the burble of the C2 I had.
If you have one - is it too loud for a cabriolet? I'm thinking premuffler and this - Help!

Get it, man - it's the best, and I've tried just about everything else. I currently have a Fabspeed premuffler and a Dansk 1-in/2-out. It's louder than stock, but not obnoxious. It's a refined, very "Porsche" sound. Sounds engineered. It's a midrangey sound and is not so loud that you can't still hear the other cool flat-6 sounds like fan, chains & valves. I can still listen to my stereo even with the windows & sunroof open. It has none of the bassy, thudding, intrusive, Mustang-worthy note you get from a B&B. Unlike with the stock muffler, the engine note is audible at idle. Stomping on it makes a nice means-business yowl, but nothing crazy.
The performance improvement, particularly in the high rev ranges and general revvability, was very noticeable, and I'm making 217 rear wheel hp with this motor (approx 180rwhp would be stock, right?) I get many compliments on the sound. Once when I was stuck in traffic heading out of Santa Cruz, a mulleted dude in a big dualie asked me to rev the engine so he could hear it better. Got a big thumbs up from him. He described it as "crisp." I agree. I think it would be a lot of fun on a cab.

Did you hook up the fabspeed premuffler? I hear that some people have had a problem making the dansk premuffler fit... and Thanks for the comments...

Yeah, I've done all my own work on the exhaust. And actually, the Fabspeed premuff that I have is a titch off kilter, resulting in my Dansk muffler being canted slightly downward on the left side. This means the left tailpipe sits visibly lower than the right. At first I thought who cares - it's not a show car. But I'm starting to care and was considering swapping out a Dansk premuff this winter. I'm also not crazy about the fact that on the Fabspeed, the O2 sensor only reads half the exhaust coming out of the engine. Not so with the Dansk. So if I were you, I'd go with the Dansk. And if whatever you try doesn't fit right, return it right away.

Dansk 1in 2 out
Yep got one on my 85 sport (Euro) and as the above say perfection! great buuuurble at idle and just ticking along at low reves, with that metalic ting but when you hit the gas, what a sound. All my neighbours think so to. And well made, and easy to fit. When I receved mine I raced home to get it fited befor the wife turned up just made it. Also I cut the valanc for the second out that was a pease of cake. The Dansk I have is ss and 84mm.
go for it !! Steve |

By the way I have my old exchangers from my 2.2 S Can you use them on your car? That would give you equal length and two in instead of one.

Iv'e got a novice question for you all. I want to replace my stock muffler with a Dansk 1 in 1 out ss sport muffler, leaving the cat in place to keep it legal. Im confused however about the pre-muffler everyone is talking about. Does this replace the cat? And if yes, how do you guys pass emmisions / smog testing with out the cat? Thanks.

Yes - the premuffler is designed to replace the cat - and unfortunaletly makes it smog illegal...
Thanks T-bird - I don't think the 2.2 heat exchangers would do it - and of course I like the sound of your car - why do you think I stayed behind you for as long as I did on Dale Mabry?

DOH! I shouldn't have read this post. Now I want one of these mufflers.
I also want a Dansk pre-muffler to replace my Fabspeed. Anyone want to trade?? Troy, I was able to pass the smog test in my area with a cat-bypass pipe installed. Even if you can't pass, it's a 1/2 job to put your cat back on.

I'm in Troy's camp. I've been thinking of a Dansk 2-out but want to keep the cat. Will it direct-fit to the cat?

Yes, the muffler will fit to the original cat. There are actually a few different options on the cat. You can replace it with any of the following; 1) Dansk premuffler - used by many on this board, with good results. Polished stainless steel, eliminates the cat. Dansk p/n 92.100S. 2) Dansk sport cat - replaces your stock 300 cell cat with a 100 cell cat. Polished stainless steel. Enables you to keep a catalytic converter, but with less restriction. Dansk p/n PO-92100S. 3) Dansk bypass pipe - just like it sounds, replaces your stock cat with a two into one pipe. Dansk p/n 92.300S. All of these are available from the host - Pelican Parts.
