SCCA roll bar requirements

Does anyone have a copy of the SCCA GCRs defining roll bar requirements?

I'm looking for tubing diameter and thickness requirements. I'm planning to fabricate a bar and want to be legal for POC/PCA/SCCA. I've got the other two GCRs.

IIRC, over 2500 lbs. 1 3/4 .095 DOM; under, 1 5/8 DOM and down one size for chrome moly. I'm sure someone will verify this or refute it. I hav the book if it comes to that. The thing I wanted to say is that DOM is quite easy to weld. If you decide on CM, more expensive/less weight, you probably ought to have it welded by a TIG and by a good welder.

I am thinking CM to cut down weight, That is why I want to build instead of buy.

However, I have a MIG not a TIG and no experience welding CM.

What should I know about this?

Chuck,

Cut and fit all the tubes - really close fitting for TIG, then tack it (small tacks with your MIG) in your car to ensure good fit, remove it and give it to an experienced TIG and CrMo fabricator to stitch together.

FYI my rear rollover bar, made in 1.625" x .095" wall CrMO weighs 29 lbs.

Regards

Hayden

SCCA Rollbar Specs

Chuck;
I posted the SCCA Rollbar specs here.

If you send me your email address I can send you a .pdf of that portion of the GCR. The other question is are you thinking about an Showroom Stock/IT style cage, or a Production/GT style cage? Note that I say "cage" because just a roll bar is not legal for any SCCA track racing.
