CIS gastank VS Non-CIS tank, whats the difference
I need a new tank for my rusty car. Tweeks has brand new tanks for 72 and earlier non-CIS and MFI cars. My car was a 73T with CIS originally and has been converted over to Webers.
Will the non CIS tank from tweeks work in my car? Are there external dimensional differences between the CIS and non CIS cars that will prevent me from using the NON CIS tank the cavity for my 73. When I ordered my new front suspension pan, there was no option for CIS and Non-CIS cars. Im thinking that everything is probably the same, but I want to make sure before I either order a new tank or pick one up from the for sale board here. Also, does pelican sell replacement gastanks? Any help is appreciated. |
MFI tanks have a feed line and a return line orifice, both fairly closely spaced together near the center of the bottom of the tank. CIS tanks have two orifices, spaced much further apart. Carb tanks had only a feed line orifice, no return. You should be able to plug the return orifice and use the MFI tank with your carbed car.
