How do you test a brake booster?

So I checked my lines today and have confirmed that the booster is receiving vacuum. Unfortunately, this means my booster isn't working properly. Searching through old posts, I read that some of you have tested the booster via the instructions given by Bentley. However, my Bentley reveals no such procedure. Can somebody please look at their manual and check if you can find the test procedure for the brake booster? This part is too expensive to just replace on a whim. Thanks!

Oh, you know what? Never mind. I found the 'procedure.' About two lines telling me how to step on the pedal. While I have your attention, where do brake boosters fail? I'll probably be disassembling it this weekend. Thanks again.

Cool Boosters...

About all that you can test on a brake booster is whether it will hold vacuum or not. Buy, beg or borrow a hand type vacuum pump with gauge, plumb it into the vacuum port for engine vacuum and use the pump to create a vacuum. If you have done the job correctly and the booster is ok, the vacuum will hold steady. If the booster is bad (or your "rigged" connection leaks) the vacuum gauge will drop steadily.

Good Luck!
