central locking failure...

Looks like the solenoid in the driver's door has failed. I can lock and unlock the passenger door from either side using the key, but the driver's door won't lock (unless I do it manually while sitting in the car).

Does anyone know of a source for these solenoids?

I really need to be able to lock my car!!!

Bump.

This is a technical board, right?

Anyone else have trouble with one door not locking/unlocking in a Carrera w/ central locking? If so, what was the underlying cause and what part(s) did you replace?

John, I have the exact same problem and have not fixed it. All was fine until Marc and I tried to work on my a/c blower controls in the center console, which also houses that locking button. Somehow we messed it up and I just never bothered to take it all apart again. I can lock the driver's door from the inside and then just do it through the passenger's side. Sorry.

Had the same thing happen. Take the door panel off and engage the lock and see what happens! My linkage slipped off at one of the ball connectors and it was just a matter of putting it back on. I doubt that it is a selonoid but if it is, no big deal. JIM

Lucky, I had the same thing wrong with my 86's driver side door. It ended up being the plastic ball cup had cracked. I had to replace it with the newer 964 part number, which replaces the whole rod. It was less than $5 from Stoddard. I tried to order it from Wayne, but they couldn't find the part number. Let me know if you end up needing a new one, I can get you the part #.
