late '73 trailing arms
 

I understand that sometime in late '73, RS trailing arms were shortened for improved handling, but I don't know if T, E and S models also received this upgrade? Anyone know?
If so, what was the earliest VIN# fitted with short trailing arms?

Was this upgrade significant improvement?

The very few last RSs had the shorter rear railing arms, like the RS 3.0, and the RSR 2.8. VERY rare.

I *think* they are very similar to the 930 arms. To fit these, you have to alter the anchor points on the shell.
The steel arms on the RS are absolute unobtainium.

The short trailing arm set up is not recommended for street use because it reduces straight line stability. Which is why it wasn't seen on later production cars - even as a "sport" or "RS" option - only on some track cars. There are photographs and a paragraph or so about it in B Anderson's book under "Suspensions".
