7x16 Fuchs wheel confusion
I am confused about a 7x16 Fuchs wheel I bought used. It's part number is 911.361.020.44 and it has all the markings and stamps on the inside. It is relatively unmolested and does not show any curb rash. The anodized part is slightly dull and needs some help.
Still, when I compare it to my other 7x16 Fuchs wheels it is somehow different. The outer lip profile is more rounded and the transition between the outer lip and the inner lip is has a bigger radius. The other two wheels have a nearly flat outer lip and a sharp transition to the inner lip. Where there different versions of the 7x16 Fuchs with the same part number or what is going on here? Could this be a fake Fuchs rim with all the correct stamps???? And no it's not the difference between 944 wheels and 911 wheels I am talking about here. Ingo

Ingo,
there could be some changes from year to year I guess...but I thought they were all the same with matching part numbers. Have you attempted to contact someone like the guys at wheel enhancements? I would think they would know the specs of the fuchs you have. Then again maybe Harald has a set laying around or has some further info on them...just a thought.

Ingo - there were actually 2 different part numbers for 7x16" Fuchs for 911's:
911 361 020 44 & 911 362 115 00 as well as the version fitted to the 944 Turbo (951 362 115 00). Don't know what the difference is - but there must be a difference to warrant the change in part number. Check the part number on your original wheels & compare. Andy '69 911E------->R

I had two 7x15 Fuchs on my '76 at one time and they were different in the manner you describe above. This was years ago, so I don't know the part numbers, but one thing about mine that was odd was that one of them used the early three-prong style of center cap and the other one used the later style. At the time, I thought the "3 prong" caps were only used on pre-'74 wheels, so I figured mine came off of an RS. :>)

andyjboy,
You are right. The change was on -84 to 85-. Man, I feel stupid. I have to pull both my rear wheels tonight and check on the part numbers. The ones I got on there are from an 81 Targa and an 82 coupe. They have the sharp transition (radius) between the outer lip and the inner lip and both have a very flat profile. They also have a slight groove between the paddles and the inner rim. ![]() The single wheel has a smoother rounder transition between the lips and the lips have a slight curve in the profile and there is no noticable groove between the paddle and the inner lip. Don't feel stupid. Your observation was correct: I have noticed the rounder lip, etc, on some of my wheels. SC-years vs. later. Both 7's and 8's show the slight differences and are only noticable to real anal Porsche gurus.
