Third Eye Brake Light Mounting

Anybody out there mounted a stock third eye brake light onto a Cab with a whale tail? Just received a "cyclops" Porsche new brake light - thought it would keep the tailgaters off my a$$ - and am not sure how the thing mounts? Anybody with photos would be helpful? Might have to put it on eBay?

Vance-
I can't exactly help with the mounting question, though I believe that it bolts to the tail. I'm sure you'll get more help from others on that question.

The wiring is really simple, particularly since you're not going from the passenger compartment (I put a high mounted 3rd light in my '85 Targa).
The easiest way to wire the 3rd brake light is to pick up the hot lead for the left rear brake light; I believe it is yellow/black, but check the wiring diagram for your SC. I found a ground behind the fuel filter in the back of the engine compartment. I tapped into the yellow/black using a wire tap I bought from Radio Shack, then used some shrink wrap to make it nice.

Do a search on third brake lights - there were a few excellent threads, complete with pictures last spring.

EDIT:

This was standard on my '87 turbo. I'll snap some pics tonight so that you can see how it fits. The pics will be posted tomorrow. BTW, mine cracked once and I had to replace it. Not a fun job...

Josh - Just what I was looking for, thanks. It looks like it overhangs the deck lid, it that the case?

Steve - Thanks for the wiring thread. That looks like the easy part compared to the mounting. One thing at a time for me - that is all I can handle.

Yea, there should be a hump on the bottom of the light. Part of it goes on the decklid, the other part on the tail. It actually fits right on the seam. On the underside, as you can see, the decklid is moulded to accept the metal brace. There are three holes, two for bolts, one in the middle for wiring.

I think I have the wrong light - mine is flush on the bottom. I think the one I have is designed to work without the tail?
