Dumb question about tires...

I know this may seem like a dumb question, but...

I am upgrading my 914-6 conversion to five lug/911 hubs/brakes & struts. I have a really good and nearly new set of tires size 195/65 R 15. I've just gotten a set of 15X7 cookie cutter rims for the project. Is it possible to put the 195s on 7" rims?

Thanks!
Daniel

Yes, 195's will work on 7" rims. I'm running 195/65 on 7" Fuchs. But will they fit a 914 without rubbing? That's a huge question...I have a friend running deep 6's on a 914-6, and things are really tight in the rear. I'd think 7's may be just too much on the outside...

Thanks! That helps a lot. We just had a 914 meet in NW Ohio a couple of weeks ago (about 35 914s in various configurations), and there were a couple of cars with 15X7 Fuchs (newer type). It is a snug fit, but it is possible with a little rolling of the rear fenders. I'm assuming that the cookie cutters will work, but... we'll see.
