My car is nearly due for its annual service, however it has only done 3000km since its last service a year ago.

I know mechanics usually say oil change due next 10,000km or within 12 months.

Does the oil loose some of its properties, after a year in the car, regardless of how many km you do?

It's currently running mobil synthetic.

The synth may be better off ageing, but I wouldn't think twice and change the oil. Cheap insurance.
